SAT 15/11/08 (Overlee) U21 League Game: Busby AFC 2 - 2 Baillieston

Both teams played well and from the start the game was full of action. The result was extremely disappointing for the Busby team and at the end the players and management felt as if they had been defeated.

Sat 1/11/08 U21 Friendly: Busby AFC 4 - 2 Kilbride Boys

The Busby 21s team found themselves struggling in the first 45 minutes of the game and at the end of the first half they were behind by two goals. Despite the effort to play good football and the chances which they created the Busby players were unable to find the target.Due to recovery, the team Captain Ross King was not available and Vice-Captain David Fry took effective leadership for this friendly game.

BUSBY 21'S 3 - 1 GLASGOW UNI - League Cup Saturday 25/10/08 at Woodfarm

The weather conditions were the worst experienced for a long time. Despite this the Busby 21s put a good effort and showed the determination to win this game. Under different circumstances where the weather elements would have been calmer; the manner in which the team approached the game and the way they played their game would have brought about a good football spectacle and a very impressive performance.

SAT 11/10/08 Busby 2 Vs Baillieston 3 (Scottish Cup, Round 2)

An early exit from the Scottish Cup for Busby caused mainly by the team's failure to penalise the opposition by scoring goal opportunities in the first half of the game. The Busby 21s pushed themselves and put a great effort for the last 20 minutes of the game but it was too late to overturn the goal deficit.

SAT 4/10/08 Knightswood 5 Vs Busby 0 (League)

The main highlight of the game was the young and inexperienced referee's performance which spoiled an otherwise good game. The opposition showed strength, fast pace and movement and clearly deserved to win the game as they were able to explore the weaknesses of the Busby team. The changes in shape and tactics for Busby's 21s team proved to be a key factor in the poor way the team performed and these changes brought about disharmony and confusion.

Busby U21's 3 - 1 Harmony Row: 20 September - Away

A wonderful display of football for most of the game by the Busby players and their determination to take the three points were the key factors for this valuable away victory. The biggest problem for the Busby team was the inability to pass the ball accurately and precisely and in the first half part particularly gave possession away on numerous times. However, there was vast improvement in the second half and the team started moving forward and passing the ball in a more acceptable manner.

Busby U21s 1 - 1 Vs Vale of Leven (Busby won on penalties 4-3): Home 13 September

As the result shows this was a typical Cup clash with lots of excitement and moments of drama for both teams. Vale of Leven took an early lead and put Busby's 21s under a lot of pressure from the start of the game. At half time Mark Gilfillan came into the game to replace Stevie Doyle on the defensive line for Busby and the Busby team pushed harder and created more chances. Both teams played good football and tried hard to win the battle particularly in the centre of the playing field.

Busby U21's 5 - 1 St. Johnstone ABC: Overlee 6 September

A good start to this West of Scotland Cup competition which came from a good team performance by the Busby players. A win was essential following the previous disappointing defeat in the league and the Busby 21s showed that they were determine to bounce back. The team played good football - particularly in the second half - and generated numerous chances to score the desired goals. St. Johnstone ABC took the lead but after that the Busby players raised their tempo and produced moments of enjoyable football display.

Busby (U21) 1 - 3 West Park United: 30 August - Away

Busby started the game very well and managed to take the lead through Nicky Green's goal. Around the 17th minute the game was interrupted following a collision between Stephen Gemmell and an opposition striker who was seriously injured. The player had to be taken away by ambulance crew for further assessment and treatment and the game restarted 20 minutes later. In the second half the Busby team appeared to have lost control - particularly in the centre of the field - and the attacking options of West Park Utd paid off as they were able to score on a couple occasions.
