Replay held in Aberdeen following 1-1 draw at home two weeks earlier.
A tough game with Cove certainly 'up for it' after the draw in the first game. Clear cut chances were few and far between but after half an hour we got the breakthrough when Alistair Brown scored from close range after a cutback.
At the start of the second half we went 2-0 up after Jack Gaskell got to the bye line and crossed and David Cairns scored, again from close range. At this stage we appeared to be in control but could take nothing for grantedwith 40 minutes to go.
However we couldn't keep lead for long and a ball was kept in by Cove after we tried to shield it out on the touchline and ball crossed and put in by their substitute who went on to score a hat trick. Cove had their tails up and scored a beautiful equaliser - a direct free kick from 25 yards high into the corner of the net.
The conditions were now getting worse with rain lashing down and Cove gotthe lead with around 10 minutes to go when two of our defenders both wentfor, and left, the same ball and it went over their heads to Cove strikerwho ran in and beat Alex Dempster in goal. As we tried to get the equaliserCove scored again near the end to make it sound more convincing than itactually was.
Over the 2 legs we gave an excellent account of ourselves angainst one ofthe top 2 teams in Aberdeen district. Looking back we had the better of thefirst leg and perhaps had the possession and chances in that game to finishthe tie.
