Sun 13 Sept - Away: Busby U17 3 - 1 Broomhill U17

An excellent win in the 2nd round of the Scottish cup and one that was well deserved.Broomhill had some good players and in the first 20 mins they looked morelively with some nice moves without creating any clear cut chances. As the half progressed we started to dominate and looked more likely to score andBlair Johnson had a good chance but shot over the bar. Dean McKirdy, justback from injury, and Alistair Brown were linking up well but just the final ball across or shot on target was lacking from all areas. However near half time Shaun Aleaxnder came forward from sweeper and dribbled past 3 or 4 players before turning on to his left foot and placing a shot to the corner of the net. Alex Dempster then had a wonderful save just before halftime to keep us in the lead.
In the second half Rudi Kingwaya, Jack Gaskell and Calum Moffat came on and we dominated the game but continued to spurn chances that would make the game safe. However David Cairns scored a second with a high shot from theedge of the box. More chances were still being created and missed and withthe game looking safe Broomhill scored against the run of play with 6 minutes to go. They also had a further 1 on 1 chance which sub goalie Gary Svilis saved brilliantly. A couple of minutes from the end Jack Gaskell ran through and shot into the corner of the net to give the scoreline a more realistic look and calm our nerves and put us intop the hat for the 3rd round draw.
