This was always going to be a tough match against a team who have alreadybeaten us twice this season - in the league and the Scottish Cup. Howeverafter last week's league win against leaders Celtic we were all confidentdespite being several players short through injuries and other absences.Pollok started slightly the better team and hit the bar early on but Busbytook the league when Rudy Kingwaya was put through and coolly slotted pastthe keeper. The game went from end to end and in the last minute of thehalf Pollok equalised when our defence failed to cut out a cross and Pollokstriker nipped in to score. Half time 1-1.In the 2nd half Pollok went 2-1 up before Chris Clark took a quick freekick to Shaun Alexandfer and his shot from edge of the box was deflectedin. However a mistake from Aran Whitelaw, who otherwise had a good game, gave Pollok a 3-2 defeat. Where we may have allowed heads to go down a fewweeks ago we battled on. We brought on Craig Blair as a sub in defence andpushed Alistair Gardner in to midfield and this worked. Rudy Kingwayascored the equaliser and extra time was a possibilty. However with lessthan 10 minutes to go Kit Cummins scored and with Pollok pushing forwardScott Crossan scrambled the ball over the line for 5-3.A brilliant result and we are in the Regional until February when we playwinner of Barrhead Reds and Clydebank Juveniles in 3rd Round as our 2nd roundopponent has conceded the tie.
Scorers - Rudy Kingwaya (2), Shaun Alexander, Kit Cummins, Scott Crossan
