Having been knocked out the Scottish Cup with a disappointing display against St Andrews, the 19s have been frustrated at not being able to make amends in three weeks with bad weather sabotaging the league calendar. However, Saturday gave us the chance to get back to winning ways with a good win over Eastfield. The first half performance did not merit any praise whatsoever, with sloppy passing and poor technique an unfortunate feature of our play and we were lucky to go in at the break one nil up, with a goal from Mark Huggins. The second half was much better, and following several chances to extend our lead Huggins added a second with an unstoppable shot from inside the box before completing his hat trick with a good finish following a Busby corner. Eastfield got a consolation with a minute to play, but overall it was a deserved win for our second half display. Special mention should go to Mark Huggins, who is an excellent example of getting out of the game what you put in. 'Huggy' never missed a pre season session and his attitude is an example to others, with his performances bringing four goals in four games from midfield whilst regional selectors singled him out for praise at a recent trial match from which himself, Greg Tieger and Craig Brown were successful in making the next stage.
